With his Mother, Ingrid, helping with the reception and wife, Michelle assisting with the administration, Darryl opened the first dedicated badminton facility in Vancouver with a modest 6 court operation.

Within 18 months, it was clear that Richmond’s appetite for Badminton was greater than anyone dreamed and so, ClearOne expanded into a neighboring location on Browngate Road with an additional 12 courts, a lounge area and a trendy new Logo.

Sandiarto and Ronne “ClearTwo” was also joined by Indonesian coaches Ronne Runtalao and Sandiarto, both former top 10 doubles players and technical specialists.

Sadly, Mother Ingrid, passed away in August of 2005 but not before seeing her youngest son become the owner of the largest badminton operation in North America.

In her memory, the ClearOne operation grew to develop the top players in the country in both junior and open categories.

Tournaments, such as ThanksGiving and Boxing day, became the largest events in the province with over 300 entries, while the annual High Performace Camp was coached by World Champions and international talents such as Chandra Widjaya, Thomas Stavvngaard, Scot Evans and Hans Kristian Vittinghus.

Other clubs began to open across Richmond in the same model as ClearOne, however, Darryl was already beginning to dream outside of the city.

Later, a program would emerge to host developing young players and aspiring Olympians to ClearOne Badminton Centre known as COBA (ClearOne Badminton Academy). Thus attracting many of the best talents across the country and developing a group of Olympic contenders.

ClearOne was tapped by Badminton Canada to organize the Yonex Canada Open 2010, which broke national records in size, attendance, ticket sales, sponsors and presentation.  Finally, the third location was erected in Port Coquitlam in September 2010 as ClearOne POCO became the first dedicated badminton centre in the Tri-City area. With 2 more centres on the horizon in Calgary, Alberta and Orlando, Florida, ClearOne is looking forward to spreading the good word of badminton all around North America.

With the thousands of players and customers, who constitute the ClearOne community, our history is still being written.

We wish to thank all who have helped build this dream in a reality and wish the greatest of luck for the future.
